Top 5 Medical Colleges of India – NEET-UG 2023
The National Testing Agency (NTA) will be soon releasing the answer key and result for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2023. Once released, Candidates can check their score at the official website— neet.nta.nic.in.
The following list represents the top 5 medical colleges in India, as per the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Rankings 2022:
1) AIIMS Delhi
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi has gained the top position in the rankings of medical colleges in India with an overall score of 91.60. AIIMS Delhi has previously secured the first rank in the 2021 rankings as well. Under the governance of the AIIMS Act of 1956, the reputed medical institute operates independently and autonomously within the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
2) Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER)
Located in Chandigarh, the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) is a prestigious public medical university. It is recognized as an ‘Institute of National Importance’. In the NIRF 2022 medical rankings, PGIMER secured the second position with a score of 79. It also secured the second spot in the 2021 rankings. It was established in 1962 under the erstwhile state of Punjab. The institute gained recognition as an ‘Institute of National Importance’ through an Act of Parliament in 1967. It conducts admissions for post-doctoral and postgraduate courses twice a year, selecting candidates based on their performance and merit in the entrance test.
3) Christian Medical College
With an overall score of 72.84, the Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore secured the third position in the previous year’s NIRF medical ranking. Established in 1900, CMC Vellore has consistently maintained its position as the third-ranked institution in the NIRF Medical rankings for the past three years (2022, 2021, and 2020).
4) NIMHANS, Bangalore
The National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences, Bengaluru, is another medical institute that has consistently maintained its position at the fourth spot in the NIRF rankings over the past three years. It was established in 1847 and recognized as an ‘Institute of National Importance’. It operates autonomously under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. In the latest rankings, the institute achieved an overall score of 71.56.
5) Banaras Hindu University (BHU)
The Banaras Hindu University has made notable progress in the NIRF Medical rankings this year. While it was ranked sixth in both 2020 and 2021 with an overall score of 68.12, it has now climbed up to the fifth spot in the 2022 edition of the rankings. Established in 1916, the institute is known for its medical sciences programs.

We live 100 Km’s away from Varanasi. The internet connection in our town is very weak and my parents are not that educated. For us, understanding the word RTGS was also very difficult. My parents were not very comfortable to send me abroad especially my mother as I am the only son of my parents.
