TN: online counseling for engineering only after NEET result?

Due to delay in the declaration of NEET result the Tamil Nadu state might start the online counseling for the engineering students in 25 August , Although a formal statement regarding the final decision on the dates of online counseling procedure will be made in next 2 – 3 days . 

The competition is growing high day by day and hence to reduce the wastage of seats in some top colleges , the state government has decided to start the counseling process only after the NEET result declaration .

Many seats are getting wasted in the top colleges of Tamil Nadu either because the students are joining the college even after being allotted or they are leaving the course and changing their mind to pursue medicals. The same happened in Anna University last year about 631 students wasted their seats . So the Admission cell has decided that from this year students who do not join the college within one week in the college after allotment his seat will be given to others in the queue.

The National Testing Agency which is responsible for conducting the NEET exam may release the result on 21st August and hence after that only the Admission cell would decide the dates for counseling for engineering students.

There are high chances of the NEET result to be declared in the end of August 2022, so the online counseling will adjusted such that the 1st phase counseling allotment will start between 25-30 August and then between 30 August -7 September the allotted seats should be confirmed and the students should report to the college for the further process .

As per the experts , students should try to fill as much option as possible , because may happen that the cut off marks increase this time and students may or may not get a college of their choice this time in the 1st phase of counseling  , so there should be good number of options put for counseling so that students have a back up college for them and then they can go for betterment in next phase.

Also , students should put their highest preferred choice colleges in the top and then according to their preference should place the other colleges in the option.
