TN Governor returns NEET Exemption bill
The government of Tamil Nadu had issued a NEET exemption bill in compliance with the hardships faced by the students. The latest news to kick in is that the Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi, returned the bill thereby not giving a nod to the NEET exemption. This notification came from an official release from Raj Bhavan release.
The reason that he stated was it doesn’t work well with the interests of rural students. It focuses on partiality as it is only considering the urban point of view. The release also stated that the government analyzed the request deeply. After various discussions, the committee discussed that the bill will not be passed. The reason that was stated was that the economically backward and financially low supported families will not benefit from this bill being passed. The governor has also advised the government to give the bill for re-consideration if required.
For the unversed, the DMK government, decided to make a bill for NEET Exemption in September 2021. The decisive marks for MBBS and BDS admissions should be based on Class 12 marks is what the government believes. MK Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu had also taken this demand to PM Modi but his demand remained unanswered. During the governor’s addressal during the Republic Day program, he said that students of government schools are not getting admitted into medical colleges with just 1 percent of share.
However, other ministers hoped that the bill would get passed in order to benefit the students of rural areas to help then gain and live their aspirations. This news became more hyped up after a 19-year-old reportedly committed suicide on the day of the NEET exam. Reports prove that the aspirant made this move as a sign of fear of facing the examination.
The bill was to provide admissions for the UG sector for all courses including homeopathy. All admissions were set to be based on Class 12 marks or internal exams provided by the required institutes. In the opinion of the government, the bill would’ve brought about huge changes in the social justice pattern of the society. It would also remove inequality and protect all students from being discriminated. It aimed at maintaining a clear balance between deserving candidates and room for admission, keeping in mind top priority for the rural sector population.

Best thing about Vivek Gupta Sir is his selfless counselling. As I am already a BSC/ MSC, he suggested me to go to Philippines as I was able to get straight admission into MD and this finishes my entire course in 4 years flat. In any other country, it would have taken by 5.5-6 years. Ms Kanimojhi in Chennai office of GKWorks was equally supportive in coordination regarding documents, departure and all other formalities.
We live 100 Km’s away from Varanasi. The internet connection in our town is very weak and my parents are not that educated. For us, understanding the word RTGS was also very difficult. Thanks to Amit Pandey Sir, who is Gkworks Varanasi incharge, he helped us to do all small things. Going with us to get forex to helping us doing RTGS for fee payment, he was always there with us. He only helped us to apply for passport online and went with us to passport office Varanasi. Such support at ground level was provided by GKworks team both in Varanasi and Delhi.
My parents were not very comfortable to send me abroad especially my mother as I am the only son of my parents. I really wanted to become a doctor and thus approached Hemant Mishra Sir, director of Bareilly branch of GKWorks. He went out of his way to convince my mother. He would have come 5 times to my home, invited us to his office and home 10 times before my mother was finally convinced. It is only due to Hemant Sir in Bareilly that I am pursuing my course today. I wish GKworks and especially Bareilly branch all the very best to help many more students for their life dreams.
