A student who wishes to pursue education in Canada must first obtain a study permit. A student does not need a study permit for a course whose duration is less than six months. But, to be on the safe side it is advisable for the student to apply for a study permit in case the student decides to study in Canada for an extended period of time. A student can apply for a study visa online or offline. The thing to keep in mind is that paper applications take twice as long as online application and it’s advisable to check processing time according to one’s needs. The visa office in India provides the applicants with the list of documents required to apply for the study permit in Canada.
STEPS TO GET A STUDY VISA FOR CANADA
STEP I: The student has to obtain a standardized letter of acceptance from a recognized Higher education institute. A student must apply for the certificate of acceptance, before the student is allowed to apply for the study permit. The student can get it online or can simply print out a form. The same can be obtained by requesting the university and any further details.
STEP II: The student has to get a student visa application package. This can be obtained from the CIC website, local visa office, Canadian embassy or the consulate in India. A student may need to obtain a temporary residence permit, but since the Study permit and temporary residence permit are processed together, hence there is no extra waiting for it.
STEP III: In order to be eligible for obtaining the study permit the student needs to answer a questionnaire on the CIC website and the student will also get a list of documents required, then the student will get to know if they can or cannot study in Canada.
STEP IV: Once the student has been found eligible, he/she will receive a personal checklist code. It is required to submit the online application. The student must keep the code with them safely, because they might need it for future reference. The page will also contain an application guide, an estimated tuition fees amount, a list of documents you will need to submit with your application, and guidelines for your next steps.
STEP V: As soon as the student has prepared his/her documents and application form and have paid their fees, he/she can submit their completed application to the CIC.
STEP VI: The student has to appear for an interview and also needs to have proof to show that they have fund to support themselves.

Best thing about Vivek Gupta Sir is his selfless counselling. As I am already a BSC/ MSC, he suggested me to go to Philippines as I was able to get straight admission into MD and this finishes my entire course in 4 years flat. In any other country, it would have taken by 5.5-6 years. Ms Kanimojhi in Chennai office of GKWorks was equally supportive in coordination regarding documents, departure and all other formalities.
We live 100 Km’s away from Varanasi. The internet connection in our town is very weak and my parents are not that educated. For us, understanding the word RTGS was also very difficult. Thanks to Amit Pandey Sir, who is Gkworks Varanasi incharge, he helped us to do all small things. Going with us to get forex to helping us doing RTGS for fee payment, he was always there with us. He only helped us to apply for passport online and went with us to passport office Varanasi. Such support at ground level was provided by GKworks team both in Varanasi and Delhi.
My parents were not very comfortable to send me abroad especially my mother as I am the only son of my parents. I really wanted to become a doctor and thus approached Hemant Mishra Sir, director of Bareilly branch of GKWorks. He went out of his way to convince my mother. He would have come 5 times to my home, invited us to his office and home 10 times before my mother was finally convinced. It is only due to Hemant Sir in Bareilly that I am pursuing my course today. I wish GKworks and especially Bareilly branch all the very best to help many more students for their life dreams.
