Final Year MBBS students’ exam got excited by Pan-India and decided to be postponed by a year
The national level exam for all final year students of MBBS and PG entrance test is said to be postponed by one year to 2024 because of less preparations as well as for its framework clarity.
Many replies were given to various Right to Information that the test will begin from 2023. This disclosure was from National Medical Commission (NMC). On the basis of Act of NMC, the National Exit Test (NeXT) is to be held within three years of NMC constitution in India for medical education as well as profession in the year 2020.
A senior official from Union Health ministry said that discussions are going on about the conductance of the exam. It is yet to be decided whether the exam will be in multiple choice questions or analytical test form and the syllabus to be covered.
As for now the NBE (National Board of Examination) under the ministry of health takes the NEET PG for admission in MS or MD. Moreover, the students who want to study abroad should give the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination which is conducted by NBE. The NeXT will subsume this test too.
There is lack of coordination. According to the head of Federation of All India Medical Association, Dr Rohan Krishnan, said that the government is not taking the exam seriously. For many years the patterns of this exam is being disturbed. This suffers the aspirants and is very disturbing. The following year almost 70,000 students will appear for the final year examination of MBBS will also take the NEET PG exam.
According to a medical education expert, Dr CV Birmanandham and former MCI vice president NeXT would be major landmark to improvise the quality of education in medicine. There are news regarding the learning of students of private medical colleges. The NeXT must be held as soon as possible. The delay must not be done to raise the medical education across India.
