NEET UG 2023- Tamil Nadu mbbs seats update?
Health Minister of Tamil Nadu, Ma. Subramanian said that the Tamil Nadu health department will ensure to provide at least 1,740 MBBS seats and 1,410 BDS seats in self-financing colleges under the government quota for the academic year.
Furthermore, the Health Minister also announced that there will be an addition of 450 seats in three new colleges, comprising two self-financing medical colleges and one private university. Additionally, there will be an inclusion of 50 seats in the ESIC Medical College located in KK Nagar. However, it is important to note that there won’t be any additional MBBS seats in the government sector for the year 2023. This means that there won’t be any increase in seats either through the addition of extra seats in existing colleges or the establishment of new government colleges
The Minister recently held a meeting with administrators from 19 self-financing medical colleges and 20 self-financing dental colleges to discuss the arrangement of seat sharing. According to an informal agreement between the state government and the self-financing medical colleges, minority institutions share 50% of their seats for admission through the government quota, while non-minority institutions share 65% of their seats.
Also, 15% of the seats are reserved for non-resident Indians and the remaining are management seats. The officials said that the government is focusing on getting more government quota seats because fees paid there are less compared to the management and NRI quota. Fees for students from government colleges allotted under the 7.5% quota are paid by the government.
Students who get admitted to government quota seats based on merit in NEET and the 60% rule of reservation pay around Rs 4.30 lakh to Rs 4.50 lakh. Students taking admission under the management quota pay around Rs 13.5 lakh and NRI students pay fees around Rs 24.5.
The colleges have also agreed to share seats as per the agreement, but in turn, the colleges have asked the government to ensure the admission process is done in a proper time interval.
The state also asked 18 self-financing medical and 16 self-financing dental colleges to surrender 407 and 139 postgraduate medical and dental seats respectively, for admission through the government quota.

Best thing about Vivek Gupta Sir is his selfless counselling. As I am already a BSC/ MSC, he suggested me to go to Philippines as I was able to get straight admission into MD and this finishes my entire course in 4 years flat. In any other country, it would have taken by 5.5-6 years. Ms Kanimojhi in Chennai office of GKWorks was equally supportive in coordination regarding documents, departure and all other formalities.
We live 100 Km’s away from Varanasi. The internet connection in our town is very weak and my parents are not that educated. For us, understanding the word RTGS was also very difficult. Thanks to Amit Pandey Sir, who is Gkworks Varanasi incharge, he helped us to do all small things. Going with us to get forex to helping us doing RTGS for fee payment, he was always there with us. He only helped us to apply for passport online and went with us to passport office Varanasi. Such support at ground level was provided by GKworks team both in Varanasi and Delhi.
My parents were not very comfortable to send me abroad especially my mother as I am the only son of my parents. I really wanted to become a doctor and thus approached Hemant Mishra Sir, director of Bareilly branch of GKWorks. He went out of his way to convince my mother. He would have come 5 times to my home, invited us to his office and home 10 times before my mother was finally convinced. It is only due to Hemant Sir in Bareilly that I am pursuing my course today. I wish GKworks and especially Bareilly branch all the very best to help many more students for their life dreams.
