NEET PG 2022: internship details
The Supreme Court declined to intervene in the NEET PG 2022 dispute requesting an internship endline extension. The Supreme Court stated this is a policy question so the court would just not meddle with the govt’s authority.
It has, nevertheless, permitted appellants to file a motion with the union administration for a prolongation of the internship end date of 31May. It has also requested a decision on the matter about a week after its filing.
The Supreme Court can hear appeals about the NEET PG 2022 exam.
What is the significance of the internship completion time limit?
Doctors must undergo a mandated one-year internship upon finishing their MBBS prior taking the NEET PG exam for admittance to PG medical programmes in medically concentration instances.
Most of those trainees would not be able to finish their internships until beyond the 31May limit due to the suspension of finals in several colleges due to Covid-19, and owing to Covid-19 obligations.
Despite the six-to-eight-week deferral, NEET PG 2022 is currently set for 21 May. Such doctors could forfeit a year if the internship’s completion timeframe was not prolonged or a substitute was not developed.
What’s the purpose of this plea?
Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing a few appellants in this matter, stated that some applicants’ internship durations were prolonged because of their Covid-19 obligations.
Furthermore, physician internship timetables fluctuate between institutes and states. As a consequence, numerous applicants’ internship time will extend far outside 31 May time limit. They would be unable to sit for the NEET PG 2022 test as a result, so they would waste a year.
The appealing physicians have also requested a substitute: that they be permitted to take the NEET PG 2022 test on 21 May and then produce their 1-year internship clearance certification, even if their internship time does not end before or on 31 May.
It should be remembered that NEET counselling began on 27 Jan, 2022, & NEET PG 2022 is slated for 21 May, 2022. Applicants who were unable to secure a place in the current NEET counselling will have to reapply for NEET PG 2022.
Physicians in the case further claim that facilitating 2 groups in one year violates Clause 12 of the Post Grad Medical Education Guidelines, 2000, which states that a total of 5 PG spots for the course each unit each year can be accommodated.
MBBS grads have also urged the National Board of Examination for explanation on how 2 PG medical cohorts will be accepted inside one term, and have requested that NEET PG be deferred till that need was satisfied.
This appeal also requested that NEET PG 2022 be postponed due to a conflict between NEET 2021 counselling with NEET PG 2022 schedules. Nonetheless, that issue was indeed handled because the NEET PG schedule was pushed back 6 to 8 weeks given the issues.

Best thing about Vivek Gupta Sir is his selfless counselling. As I am already a BSC/ MSC, he suggested me to go to Philippines as I was able to get straight admission into MD and this finishes my entire course in 4 years flat. In any other country, it would have taken by 5.5-6 years. Ms Kanimojhi in Chennai office of GKWorks was equally supportive in coordination regarding documents, departure and all other formalities.
We live 100 Km’s away from Varanasi. The internet connection in our town is very weak and my parents are not that educated. For us, understanding the word RTGS was also very difficult. Thanks to Amit Pandey Sir, who is Gkworks Varanasi incharge, he helped us to do all small things. Going with us to get forex to helping us doing RTGS for fee payment, he was always there with us. He only helped us to apply for passport online and went with us to passport office Varanasi. Such support at ground level was provided by GKworks team both in Varanasi and Delhi.
My parents were not very comfortable to send me abroad especially my mother as I am the only son of my parents. I really wanted to become a doctor and thus approached Hemant Mishra Sir, director of Bareilly branch of GKWorks. He went out of his way to convince my mother. He would have come 5 times to my home, invited us to his office and home 10 times before my mother was finally convinced. It is only due to Hemant Sir in Bareilly that I am pursuing my course today. I wish GKworks and especially Bareilly branch all the very best to help many more students for their life dreams.
