NEET 2021- KARNATAKA EXTENDS VERIFICATION DATES FOR NRIs
Covid-19 has proven to be the problem maker for many situations in the country. Just like any other calamity, even the exam sector has been disrupted because of the same. Reports suggest that the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA), keeping in mind the hurdles posed by Covid-19, has extended dates for NRIs to submit their required documents.
The new date that has been finalized is 28 January 2022, where candidates are requested to provide their original credentials to process admissions. They can approach the NRI ward for their cause of concerns. The original date was supposed to be between 6 and 14 January but since the third wave took over the state, the dates were changed. This change comes for candidates applying for all medical courses including MBBS and BDS.
This process is set to happen on rank-basis, candidates who scored top will get priority in the placement drive. Candidates should also submit original documents without any fraudulent activities to ensure ease in process. Keeping in mind the growing cases of Covid-19, KEA has carried counselling for UG through the online medium. The second round will only take place if there are vacant seats left after round 1. Candidates are allowed to give their preferences and the choice-filling round will take place after that.
Some of the guidelines that KEA has placed is that, candidates should be from Karnataka and studied in schools in the same state for a period of more than seven years. They should also qualify NEET 2021 and appear in the ranking list. Also, they should a resident citizen of India. All these guidelines are making an entry after seeing a growing number of students from other states getting preferences in states other than home state. Hence, this came into force after government felt that preference should be given to the home state before anything else.
Coming to the NRI quota, there has been a rise in NRI candidates hence a provision was created. Seeing the growth and demand for medical courses, NEET came into the picture to help students prepare for this complicated test. NRI candidates have also got a name for themselves in the Indian sector of education owing to their studies in countries outside of India, which is why the NEET is helping such students to get themselves registered into Indian related medical courses to uphold the dignity of Indian Education.

Best thing about Vivek Gupta Sir is his selfless counselling. As I am already a BSC/ MSC, he suggested me to go to Philippines as I was able to get straight admission into MD and this finishes my entire course in 4 years flat. In any other country, it would have taken by 5.5-6 years. Ms Kanimojhi in Chennai office of GKWorks was equally supportive in coordination regarding documents, departure and all other formalities.
We live 100 Km’s away from Varanasi. The internet connection in our town is very weak and my parents are not that educated. For us, understanding the word RTGS was also very difficult. Thanks to Amit Pandey Sir, who is Gkworks Varanasi incharge, he helped us to do all small things. Going with us to get forex to helping us doing RTGS for fee payment, he was always there with us. He only helped us to apply for passport online and went with us to passport office Varanasi. Such support at ground level was provided by GKworks team both in Varanasi and Delhi.
My parents were not very comfortable to send me abroad especially my mother as I am the only son of my parents. I really wanted to become a doctor and thus approached Hemant Mishra Sir, director of Bareilly branch of GKWorks. He went out of his way to convince my mother. He would have come 5 times to my home, invited us to his office and home 10 times before my mother was finally convinced. It is only due to Hemant Sir in Bareilly that I am pursuing my course today. I wish GKworks and especially Bareilly branch all the very best to help many more students for their life dreams.
