Is IELTS tough?
According to a poll conducted by Leap Scholar, an abroad study platform, 62% of Indian students continue to struggle with maintaining proficient discussions in English and its intonation.
Leap Scholar was founded in 2019 as an aspect of Leap, South Asia’s leading study abroad platform offering goods and services in international education. It pioneered the ‘platform approach’ of end-to-end operations for foreign students and professionals.
A study of 60,000 International English Language Testing System (IELTS) hopefuls was done by LeapScholar, a dynamic community of over 2 million students.
The IELTS is a language competency exam that non-English speaking students must take when applying for school in English-speaking nations.
According to the LeapScholar poll, despite the fact that 71% of IELTS hopefuls learned English in school, they failed to have spontaneous discussions in the language. Furthermore, 39% of respondents acknowledged using their regional, native tongue as a filler during an English conversation.
According to the poll, students regarded the speaking and ‘writing’ assessments to be among the most challenging. In the reading category, 37% considered focus to be the most difficult difficulty, while 36% found the message of the passages hardest to understand. During the speaking exam, 27% said they could develop their terminology and assertiveness the most.
56% of respondents said they want to strive to improve their listening abilities, which is one of the primary components of the IELTS.
In a press statement, Vaibhav Singh, co-founder of LeapScholar, emphasized the importance of English education: “With the increase in students seeking to study overseas, fluency and mastery over the English language is crucial and of the highest importance. English serves as a means of intra-national and worldwide communication in today’s globalized world.
OTT demonstrates assistance in English-learning
According to the poll results, over 68% of respondents chose online tutoring to prep for the Written Test. Respondents stated that the transition to a largely online style of study as a result of Covid helped them better prepare for the exam.
More than 42% practiced sample exams to understand worldwide accents. In comparison, 33% watch International movies and TV series such as The Office, Suits, and other productions that give inspirational outlets for learners to improve their English.
Singh said in his statement that the survey’s analysis results shed insight on the timing and dynamics of an Indian student’s whole IELTS preparation route.

Best thing about Vivek Gupta Sir is his selfless counselling. As I am already a BSC/ MSC, he suggested me to go to Philippines as I was able to get straight admission into MD and this finishes my entire course in 4 years flat. In any other country, it would have taken by 5.5-6 years. Ms Kanimojhi in Chennai office of GKWorks was equally supportive in coordination regarding documents, departure and all other formalities.
We live 100 Km’s away from Varanasi. The internet connection in our town is very weak and my parents are not that educated. For us, understanding the word RTGS was also very difficult. Thanks to Amit Pandey Sir, who is Gkworks Varanasi incharge, he helped us to do all small things. Going with us to get forex to helping us doing RTGS for fee payment, he was always there with us. He only helped us to apply for passport online and went with us to passport office Varanasi. Such support at ground level was provided by GKworks team both in Varanasi and Delhi.
My parents were not very comfortable to send me abroad especially my mother as I am the only son of my parents. I really wanted to become a doctor and thus approached Hemant Mishra Sir, director of Bareilly branch of GKWorks. He went out of his way to convince my mother. He would have come 5 times to my home, invited us to his office and home 10 times before my mother was finally convinced. It is only due to Hemant Sir in Bareilly that I am pursuing my course today. I wish GKworks and especially Bareilly branch all the very best to help many more students for their life dreams.
