Indian medical students are now permitted to practice medicine in the Philippines.

Indeed, many medical aspirants choose the Philippines for their education due to its offering of quality medical programs at competitive costs.

The recent amendment to the Philippine Medical Act of 1959 is indeed a significant development, especially for Indian medical students pursuing their MBBS degrees in the Philippines. With this amendment, Indian students who complete their Doctor of Medicine degree from a recognized Philippine College of Medicine, along with a 12-month internship, will now be able to register and practice medicine in the Philippines. This change streamlines the process for Indian graduates and ensures a smooth transition for them.

The move is particularly advantageous for Indian medical students, given the high quality of education, English as the medium of instruction, and affordable living costs in the Philippines. Additionally, the tuition fees in the Philippines are considerably lower compared to those in western countries, making it an attractive destination for medical education.

Kadwin Pillai rightly points out that this provision not only benefits Indian students but also benefits all foreign medical students studying in the Philippines. The alignment of these regulations with the requirements of the Indian Medical Commission for registration further enhances the opportunities for Indian graduates to practice medicine in India after obtaining their MD degrees from the Philippines. Overall, this amendment opens up new avenues and opportunities for medical aspirants from India and other countries pursuing their education in the Philippines.

Client Testimonial

MBBS Abroad is a big decision and your success depends upon the honesty of your consultant. It is a long process starting from choosing the right college to reaching there at college door step and finally studying there for next 5-6 years. You are in a new country without many old friends. We were sure to approach a consultant who is based out of our district only so that not only during admission but for next 6 years, we can have smooth interactions. So, we approached GKWorks as they have a branch in Saharanpur. As we anticipated, there are lot of things to be done during admission process that goes for 3-4 months. At every step, it was useful for us to have our consultant who was only 20 minutes’ drive from our home. We were able to discuss everything face to face any day and thus were able to have easy process.
