IFOM Exam: An Introduction

 What is the IFOM Exam?

IFOM stands for the International Foundation of Medicine exam. It is conducted by the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) with high-quality assessments for healthcare professionals.

Usually, the USMLE Exam has many questions that are largely US-based such as public and population healthcare related questions. IFOM, on the other hand, is the pre-form of the USMLE exam. It includes questions that are often asked in the USMLE exam too.

IFOM comprises of two exams:

1. Basic Science Exam or BSE
2. Clinical Science Exam or CSE

About BSE & CSE exam

1 IFOM – BSE Exam

IFOM Basic Science Examination is developed to assess the international knowledge of medical students who have completed their preclinical curriculum and wish to start their study of clinical medicine.

2 IFOM – CSE Exam

IFOM Clinical Science Examination is developed to assess the clinical knowledge in the fields of medicine, surgery, paediatrics, surgery, etc. of students who are in their final year of undergraduate medical education.

Passing Score of IFOM Exam in Bogomolets National Medical University (2019-20)

The medical students from the Bogomolets National Medical University had applied for the IFOM exams conducted by the NBME. They set a major benchmark with 92% medical students having cleared the IFOM Exam successfully. It is one of the highest passing percentages of IFOM exams.

The exam was taken in the English language.
