How to Study for the MCAT in 3 Month

Designing an ideal MCAT study guide is a key aspect of preparing for the MCAT. However, it can be the most difficult task. The AAMC suggests that an average pre-med student spends about 300 to 350 hours in preparation for the MCAT. The three months’ time might seem more than enough for you to prepare, yet it is mandatory to allot many hours of study time in a weekly order to score competitively on the MCAT. Given below is a weekly plan created to assist you in scoring well.

MCAT STUDY ESSENTIALS

Before you begin your preparations, you have to identify and collect the required study materials. Following are some of the recommended materials.

AAMC’S MCAT ESSENTIALS GUIDE

That’ll be the best place to start your MCAT preparations. You are advised to review information about test logistics, content, and timing found in the Essentials Guide.

AAMC FULL-LENGTH TESTS

The MCAT website has four full-length practice tests available.

AAMC SAMPLE QUESTIONS AND SECTIONS

The AAMC website has two different packages of practice questions. The Official MCAT Section Bank has 300 practice questions separated into three section packs: natural sciences, behavioral sciences, and social sciences. The Official MCAT Question Packs have passages and questions from retired MCAT tests covering Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills (CARS).

MCAT PRACTICE QUESTIONS

Kaplan’s Adaptive QBank saves you time with the important questions by adjusting to your skill level as you work. You’ll start learning from your mistakes and hike your score.

KAPLAN’S MCAT COMPLETE 7-BOOK SUBJECT REVIEW + ONLINE RESOURCES

You get the printed resources that cover the subject matter from all the test sections and access to three full-length practice tests online and additional science videos with Kaplan’s MCAT books. The book set gives complete details on the scaled scores and percentiles for each section as well as brief explanations for every question. Additionally, Kaplan’s MCAT 528 Advanced Prep Book and Online Resources will give you more preparation.

ONLINE CALENDAR

An online calendar can prove to be helpful in keeping track and accessing your personal study plan from any place. You can also share your calendar with others as they can help you stay on track.

TAKE A CLASS

If studying and planning a schedule on your own seems hard to you, you can sign up for classes like Kaplan’s MCAT Prep.

After collecting the required materials, it’s time you start studying. As you have a whole 3 months to study, you can begin by reviewing the test content broadly which helps you to pick up points from each section of the test. Focusing on the material you know well can boost your confidence, but it won’t help you to be productive with your score as you can’t find enough time to spend on the content you’re less confident in.

You can use the study plan given below.

MCAT STUDY SCHEDULE FOR THE FIRST WEEK

    • Start your study plan by taking a diagnostic practice test or completing a question set that covers all the topics from the MCATto make yourself comfortable with the syllabus. The MCAT Sample Testis very useful. You also get a free online practice test from Kaplan, as well as 3 Full-Length tests included with the Kaplan MCAT Books.
    • Analyze the test to focus on the areas you need to work on. Customize your study plan according to that. Prepare a weekly study schedule. Mention the study plan in your calendar and try to study at least 3 hours per day. Take a day off every week to retrieve your energy.
    • Prepare a schedule comprising all these topics:
      1. Biochemistry
      2. Biology
      3. General Chemistry
      4. Organic Chemistry
      5. Physics/Math
      6. Behavioral Science
    • You can use the AAMC Sample Questions and Sections for practice and select passages based on the content areas you have reviewed.
    • Also, study for the Critical Analysis and Reasoning (CARS) section daily.\

Start with the basic subjects and allot time for different topics each day. Try to focus on individual topics for a minimum of one and a half hours. Check out on how your first-week calendar looks like:

MBBS Abroad is a big decision and your success depends upon the honesty of your consultant. It is a long process starting from choosing the right college to reaching there at college door step and finally studying there for next 5-6 years. You are in a new country without many old friends. We were sure to approach a consultant who is based out of our district only so that not only during admission but for next 6 years, we can have smooth interactions. So, we approached GKWorks as they have a branch in Saharanpur. As we anticipated, there are lot of things to be done during admission process that goes for 3-4 months. At every step, it was useful for us to have our consultant who was only 20 minutes’ drive from our home. We were able to discuss everything face to face any day and thus were able to have easy process.
