DELHI NOW HAS 1250 MBBS SEATS – RML HOSPITAL GETS NOD TO START UG MEDICAL COLLEGE WITH 100 SEATS IN 2019-2020
The Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in New Delhi gets a nod to start MBBS course from this year which adds another 100 seats to NEET 2019 aspirants. The Union Health Ministry has granted permission to RML Hospital which come under the Central Government. Finally, the RML Hospital is going to start a MBBS course with 100 seats in this academic year.
It is already known that Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital is already providing Post Graduate education, is now going to offer MBBS course also. The hospital had earlier sought the approval of apex medical regulator that Medical Council of India (MCI).
The Health Ministry had already asked the hospital to work on the project for 2 years and solve the problem of shortage of doctors. For this purpose, the hospital prepared a detailed report where the requirements were mentioned. Finally, the hospital has moved the proposal for obtaining necessary approvals.
it can be considered as an achievement for the hospital that it got a nod to offer MBBS course in the academic year 2019-2020. According to senior official, the hospital premises have the required infrastructure to start the MBBS course.
It was mentioned in a letter which was addressed to the RML Medical Superintendent Dr. V K Tiwari that “I am directed ……to convey the approval of the competent authority for starting of MBBS course with intake of 100 seat at the PGIMER and Dr. RML Hospital from the academic session 2019-2020.”
The RML hospital was established by the British Government for their staff and formerly known as Willingdon Hospital. Earlier it had only 54 beds but today the hospital has more than 1500 beds in its facility.
Presently, there are about 17 medical colleges in Delhi out of which 9 offer MBBS course. There are about 1,150 seats which are distributes in following way in different colleges:
