Approval of 100 Seats for MBBS in Keonjhar Medical College 

The Keonjhar Medical College and Hospital will start working from the present academic year because the NMC (National Medical Commission) has accepted 100 seats for MBBS for this institute under MSCBD (Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University), Baripada.

A notification was made by NMC stating the quoted line “I am directed to refer your application for Starting of New Medical College Government Medical College, Keonjhar under the MSCBD University, Baripada with annual intake of 100 MBBS students u/s 26(1)(a)(b) and 28(1)(2) and section 61(2) of the NMC Act, 2019 for the academic year 2022-23”.  

The MARB (Medical Assessment and Rating Board) of NMC studied the reports as well as remarks of the expert group of UG on the infrastructure condition of the college, laboratories, hostels, libraries, hospital and faculty availabilities, their publications, experience, residents, tutors and stuffs in paramedical in Keonjhar Government Medical College for initialising the MBBS course in 2022-2023.

The NMC has come to a conclusion to obtain important documents for issuing the Letter of Permission for the increase of number of seats:

• The applicant for this should have proper infrastructural facilities on the basis of teaching and non-teaching, equipments, buildings as per NMC guidelines.
• The students should not be granted admission until the formal permission granted by MARB.
• The medical college should issue bank guarantee for the additional 100 seats in favour of NMC.
• The validity is of 5 years until the course is recognisable from a nationalised or scheduled bank. The colleges under state government should only have get an undertaking.
• The colleges should furnish undertaking on the topic of payment of stipend during internship. 
• The MARB reserve the freedom to withdraw the Letter of Intent/ Letter of Permission.

The application should be submitted on time according to the circular regarding the issue. Failure to submit within the limit of time would be considered that it was not under statutory needs. The notification further stated that “The acceptance letter may be sent within 1 (one) week from the date of issue of this letter to enable the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) to issue Letter of Permission for the academic year 2022-23”.
