A fee increase has been proposed by Karnataka of 30 to 35%?

The Karnataka government along with state medical as well as dental colleges has held a meeting regarding the restructure of the fee structure. The authorities of every college demanded a fee hike for 30 to 35% for the 2022-2023 academic years. They said that the colleges had faced problems during COVID 19, which is causing problem in the present academic procedure.

Moreover, along with the fee structure, the authorities of colleges had discussed about the sharing of medical college seats for precise division of seats between private as well as government colleges and rest deemed-to-be universities.

On the basis of NMC (National Medical Commission) around 50% of seats must be reserved for government quota seats in medical and dental colleges and other deemed-to-be universities.

In addition, earlier, the NMC has instructed that all the medical colleges must charge 50% of the total number of seats. This system was introduced among private medical colleges. Many colleges had to register students under management as well as NRI quota on a less fee structure because of the financial problem during the pandemic. That is why majority of colleges want to increase fee to balance the cost.
