350 self-funded MBBS vacancies to be moved to AIQ

 

Thiruvananthapuram: The region’s 19 auto-funded medical institutions would move 350 MBBS common spots to the AIQ.

 

The DME recently addressed to the health dept’s extra chief secretary, requesting that a directive be published in this respect. Conversely, if the govt determines to provide spots to applicants from out of the region that are merited by pupils in the state, the supervisors may pursue legal action. This might have an impact on the admissions procedure this year.

 

The fresh step leads to an intermediate ruling imposed by the Supreme Court in 2019 in response to a petition lodged by the auto-funded medical institute managerial organisation.

Notwithstanding the 15 percentage NRI spots, all self-funded universities have indeed been told to designate 15 percentage spots to the entry test director to be distributed on an all-India scale. These 15 percentage spots would be allocated by the entry exam director to aspirants from out of region.

 

Amidst a memorandum notified by the Kerala Institute of Health Sciences & an appeal from the entry test commissioner, just a few institutions have followed this order, as per DME’s statement.
